BEFORE
Thoroughly exfoliate your skin 4-24 hours prior. This is key to a long lasting tan!
Pay attention to dry areas like elbows, knees, hands, feet.
Wax or shave before your tan.
Have a cleansing shower to remove oils, deodorant, foundation, etc.
If your skin is dry, a light oil-free lotion can be applied.
Note:
Eyelash extensions should be completed 1-2 days prior or done after your tan has developed & rinsed.
Mani’s, pedi’s, or massages should be done before. Soaking and excessive rubbing will diminish the tan.
Note: After the tan is applied and before you rinse, the spray tan may rub off on fabrics. They generally don’t stain and will wash out of most fabrics. However, please take care around delicate fabrics.
AFTER
Wear loose fitting, dark clothes. Avoid bras or tight shoes.
Immediately after your tan, the developing period begins. This is 8-12 hours for regular spray tans and 1-3 hours for rapid tan.
During this time avoid water, don’t workout or sweat heavily, and avoid washing your hands.
After the developing period, have a shower. Do not use soap. You’ll notice the instant bronzers rinse away and your spray tan remains.
After the first shower you can resume your regular shower routine. Do not use scrubs or loofahs within the first week of your tan, these will strip off the colour. Gently pat skin dry.
Keep skin moisturized. Hydrated healthy skin retains your tan longer.
After about a week the tan will begin to fade. To remove the tan, have a soaking shower or bath and exfoliate your skin.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How long do spray tans last?
A: Spray tans last about a week, longer for some.
The “tan” is not a dye, but a reaction that occurs on the very top layer of skin. Your tan will fade as your body naturally sheds skin cells. We renew the very top layer of our skin about every 7 days. Pre-tan exfoliation will optimize the length of your tan.
Q: Will I turn Orange?
A: That’s a hard no. We use Norvell Venetian as our standard product. It’s an incredible, high-quality product that has a purple based colour. Many other products have a red base, which can create the orange look.
Q: Is your product organic?
A: Our product contains 100% EcoCert certified organic DHA (the ingredient that creates the “tan”). We can’t officially call our product organic because the solution contains a small amount of alcohol to help with drying. We like it this way because it leaves a more dry finish, less tacky feeling than other products.
Q: Can I go in a swimming pool with a spray tan?
A: We recommend staying clear of chlorinated pools with a spray tan, these may affect your spray tan. It’s okay to swim in non-chlorine pools at least 24 hours after application. Be aware that excessive soaking will cause your tan to fade faster, but won’t necessarily strip the tan off.
Q: Can I tan while pregnant?
A: Every pregnancy is different. We insist that you check with your doctor first. For those who are given the blessing, we provide nose filters for you.
